Para Dies
Acrylic on canvas
32 x 48 cm
The painting is examining XXI century consumerism and environmental issues. The posture of a model was inspired by holiday adverts promising a relaxing leisure on a paradise beach. The Artist shows us that the luxury of a paradise comes with an extra cost by setting our character in a dystopian version of a holiday in the near future. The landscape in Para Dies presents a trashy, polluted beach, and buildings growing out of the sea - a possible scenario when the sea levels will rise. The character in the painting seems indifferent towards the circumstances surrounding her, just like so many of us are indifferent towards the effects of climate change and pollution.
Like many of Intu's works, Para Dies was painted on a recycled canvas panel found on one of London's streets
